12/ First Deputy Speaker, EU Ambassador Discuss Cooperation, Political Dialogue
Amman, Nov. 23 (Petra) – First Deputy Speaker of the Lower of Parliament Khamis Atiyeh met on Sunday at the Parliament building with the European Union Ambassador to the Kingdom, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in all fields, particularly parliamentary cooperation. Atiyeh expressed appreciation for the support provided by the European Union to Jordan in various sectors, noting that the comprehensive modernization initiatives launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II are progressing steadily, reflecting the Jordanian state’s commitment to achieving sustainable development and strengthening public participation in decision-making. He underscored the importance of strengthening relations and continuing political dialogue between the two sides to serve common interests, highlighting the investment climate and stability available in Jordan across various sectors. Atiyeh stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah II is leading a significant diplomatic effort to achieve security and stability in the region, in addition to the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He also underlined the necessity of recognizing the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state on their national soil. Chatzisavas praised the level of relations between the European Union and Jordan, describing them as advanced and developing in all areas, and affirmed that the Kingdom is an important strategic partner.
