13/ UNICEF: At Least 67 Children Killed in Gaza Since Ceasefire Announcement

New York, Nov. 21 (Petra)-- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said that no fewer than 67 children have been killed in Gaza since the announcement of a ceasefire in the enclave on October 10 an average of two children per day.

Speaking to journalists in Geneva on Thursday, UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires said reports confirmed the death of an infant girl in Khan Younis as a result of an airstrike, while seven other children were killed the previous day in Gaza City and the southern region.

"There is only one party in the conflict in Gaza that possesses the firepower necessary to conduct airstrikes," he noted.

Pires added that UNICEF teams on the ground in Gaza continue to witness harrowing scenes daily, including children sleeping in the open, others living with amputated limbs, and orphaned children trembling in fear inside makeshift, water-logged shelters. "They are stripped of their dignity," he said.
