27/ Jordan Trail resumes tours in Petra to promote sustainable tourism

Petra, Nov. 6 (Petra) – The Jordan Trail tours have resumed activities in the ancient city of Petra, highlighting the Kingdom’s "rich" historical, cultural, and natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism.

The resuption of tours coincides with increased tourist activity and rising visitor numbers to the "Rose City."

A new trip was organized from Little Petra by the Jordan Trail Association (JTA), in cooperation with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA)

In remarks to "Petra" Thursday, Shaker Aladwan, PDTRA Deputy Cheif, said collaboration with the association supports tourist initiatives showcasing the area’s geographical and environmental diversity.

Aladwan noted such trails extend visitor stays and encourage community-based and developmental tourism.

Aladwan added that this type of PDTRA-supported tourism "positively" promotes Jordan as a "distinguished" destination, offering an eco-friendly product that enhances national tourism and strengthens Petra’s global tourist profile.

In turn, Ali Barqawi, JTA General Manager, said the tours aim to introduce participants to the trail’s unique route through diverse natural and archaeological sites.

Barqawi emphasized the association’s efforts to build partnerships with local communities and tourism institutions to provide a "safe and esteemed" experience.

The Jordan Trail is one of the region’s most important long-distance trails, stretching over 650 km from Umm Qais in the north to Aqaba in the south, passing through Petra, offering a remarkable adventure and an opportunity to explore Jordan’s rich natural landscapes.
