47/ Wildfire destroys over 15 dunums of agricultural, forest land in Ajloun
Ajloun, May 28 (Petra) – A fire that broke out Wednesday evening in the Deir Mismar area of Rajeb town consumed more than 15 dunums of land planted with a mix of forest trees and fruit-bearing crops, including lemon, loquat (eskadenia), and Roman olive trees. Ajloun Agriculture Director, Rami Al-Adwan, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that earlier warnings had been issued urging landowners and farmers to plow their lands and remove dry weeds, which serve as fuel that accelerates the spread of wildfires. Al-Adwan emphasized the need for cooperation with all concerned authorities to preserve Jordan’s forest wealth and limit the occurrence of wildfires, especially during the summer months. //Petra// AF
