36/ QAIA received 814,819 passengers in April
Amman, May 28 (Petra) – Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 814,819 passengers during the month of April, a 21.8 percent increase from the same period last year, Airport International Group (AIG), which operates the airport, said on Wednesday. The airport recorded 6,446 aircraft movements during April, an increase of 11.5 percent, compared to the same period last year, and handled 5,538 tons of air cargo, 14.9 percent down from May, 2024, it said in a press release. QAIA welcomed 2,952,141 passengers between January and April, recording an 11.9 percent rise, compared to the same period in 2024, it said. Aircraft movements between January and April were up 6.9 percent, with the airport recording 23,972 movements, while air cargo dropped by 16.1 percent to 21,695 tons, compared to the same period last year, according to the statement. "We are satisfied with this significant increase in monthly passenger traffic, which is a result of the seasonal travel rush at the end of Ramadan and during the extended Eid Al-Fitr holiday, which gave many the opportunity to meet their loved ones or take a long-awaited vacation," commented Nicolas Devillier, CEO of AIG.
