28/ Vision to teach partisan course in Jordan's universities, says MP

Amman, May 28 (Petra) –Deputy Chairman of the Lower House Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee, MP Abdul Halim Ananbeh, said political and party-related culture should be integrated into Jordan's universities' curricula and extracurricular activities to help their students engage in public landscape.

Ananbeh's remarks came during a meeting on Wednesday to mull over a proposal to launch a course on party culture in Jordan's universities, which aligns with the national vision to modernize the Kingdom's political system.

Talking to the dialogue, Ananbeh said early political awareness within university curricula and activities contributes to engage an "adept" generation to play its national and political role to implement the Royal vision that calls for empowering Jordan's youth and their "positive" engagement in public life.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education Mamoun Debie said the ministry places "remarkable" importance on promoting the student-driven partisan culture, in line with the political modernization vision led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which aims to build an "effective" party life.

The ministry, he stated, has issued a legislation to regulate practice of party activity within Jordan's higher education institutions, adding that extracurricular activities play a "significant" role in consolidating this culture.

Debie also called for strengthening relevant stakeholder cooperation in Jordan's political and party-related affairs by launching various events for politicians and university students to raise awareness on the parties' role in public life.
