12/ KAFD Supports 19 Projects for Political Empowerment Across Governorates

Amman, May 28 (Petra) – The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) announced on Wednesday its support for 19 civil society organizations to implement political empowerment initiatives across the Kingdom's governorates through the "Tamkeen" project.

KAFD Director General Abdul Fattah Kayed, speaking at the agreement-signing ceremony attended by representatives of the selected organizations, said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to advance political modernization. He noted that the project focuses on four main pillars: creating an enabling environment for youth leadership; promoting community-based political participation; supporting party engagement rooted in programmatic platforms; and increasing women’s participation and representation in political life.

Kayed underlined that the Tamkeen project aims to enhance political awareness across society, encourage youth and women to take part in political life, stimulate party engagement at the local level, and activate citizens' roles within municipalities and decentralized councils.

This year’s selected projects address a wide array of topics, including empowering youth and women in politics, training party cadres, producing awareness-focused media content, promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities, activating student bodies, and fostering youth-official dialogue. Additional initiatives focus on educating youth about party and electoral laws and using artistic and interactive media to disseminate political knowledge.

The first round of Tamkeen, launched last year, supported 10 projects aimed at advancing political awareness and party engagement, reinforcing the role of civil society in contributing to national development.
