10/ Jordan International Rally to Launch Thursday with Diverse Global Participation
Amman, May 28 (Petra) -- The 2024 Jordan International Rally, the fourth round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC), is set to begin Thursday, drawing 22 competitors from across the region and beyond. The event will commence with an opening ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan in Amman, before competitive stages shift to the Dead Sea region. According to organizers, this year’s rally will feature drivers and co-drivers from 13 countries: Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Spain, Ireland, Slovakia, Lithuania, India, and Italy. A press conference will precede the ceremonial start, offering participants a platform to outline their aspirations ahead of the multi-day contest. In parallel with the international competition, the rally will also host the first and second rounds of the Jordan National Rally Championship, with 20 Jordanian drivers and navigators registered to compete. Rally activities on Friday will span a competitive distance of 197.60 kilometers, while the overall course extends to 546.06 kilometers. The opening day includes a newly added 32-kilometer stage in Tall Al-Hilali. On Saturday, three stages, Panorama (17.12 km), Suwayma (11.19 km), and Wadi Al-Nar (16.07 km), will be each repeated twice, pushing competitors through varied terrain before the event concludes with an official awards ceremony and press conference at the Dead Sea. //Petra// RZ
