28/ Princess Sumaya University hosts TEDxPSUT 2025
Amman, May 10 (Petra) – Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) inaugurated the 2025 edition of its TEDxPSUT conference on Saturday under the theme "The Power Within," with participation from local and international universities. The conference, modeled after the globally renowned TED format, aims to explore individual inner potential and highlight the transformative power that stems from within through an inspiring platform that merges creativity and knowledge. This year’s sessions focused on three main themes: emotional intelligence and psychological resilience, impactful project innovation, and legacy and long-term thinking. In remarks during the opening, PSUT President Wejdan Abu Elhaija said the event provides fertile ground for ideas capable of driving change. "This year’s theme, ‘The Power Within,’ reflects our firm belief that real, lasting transformation begins from the inside when individuals are courageous enough to make an impact in their world," she stated. Abu Elhaija also praised the leadership of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, whose deep belief in youth, knowledge, and dialogue has helped cultivate a university culture that fosters innovation and initiatives like TEDxPSUT. Highlighting PSUT’s regional leadership, she noted that the university was the first in the region to host a TEDxSalon event and, in 2024, connected Amman with the world via a live broadcast of TEDxLive from Vancouver, Canada. She also commended the organizing team, which was recognized as the best TEDx team in the Middle East and North Africa, and invited to represent the Arab world at TEDxVerona in Italy and TED Next in Atlanta, USA marking the first participation by a university team from the region in such global forums. "These achievements demonstrate the remarkable outcomes that emerge when we believe in young people and give them space to grow, innovate, and express themselves," she said. Dean of Student Affairs Rami Salem emphasized that the event is entirely student-organized, simulating the TED model to promote awareness, cultural engagement, and the dissemination of ideas worth spreading. Student Tala Ghanem, head of the organizing committee, expressed gratitude to everyone involved students, speakers, organizers, and sponsors emphasizing that the university’s support for innovation is the cornerstone of TEDxPSUT. //Petra// AF
