10/ Conference explores insights to enhance Jordan's higher education sector
Dead Sea, May 10 (Petra)- The three-day conference, themed: "From Vision to Implementation," concluded dialogues to boost performance of Jordan's higher education sector. Launched by Senate President Faisal Fayez, the event was organized by the Upper Chamber's Public Services Committees, alongside other nine joint senatorial panels. The closing session, moderated by Chairman of the Senate Public Services Committee, Dr. Mustafa Hamarneh, featured recommendations and discussed future steps. In his speech, Dr. Hamarneh said "all are partners" in this field and are working to bridge the knowledge gap in higher education by agreeing on a "clear" roadmap and establishing "effective" monitoring and assessment mechanisms, which would contribute to formulating "implementable" policies. Hamarneh noted the conference made a slew of "important" recommendations to serve the Kingdom's higher education sector. These projected steps, he stated, mainly aim to develop a legislative framework for enabling enhanced inter-university cooperation and directing scientific research towards national priorities, while giving funding priority to projects with national goals. The event also advised scientific research should find "effective" solutions to social issues, promote innovation and economic development, support institutional research cooperation and develop mechanisms to monitor and assess scientific research-driven outcomes, he pointed out. On developing the Kingdom's educational process, he noted education constitutes an "essential" part of Jordan's modernization process and a "pivotal" tool for building capacity and developing the higher education and scientific research sector. //Petra// AG
