29/ Jordan, Libya discuss social protection cooperation
Amman, May 8 (Petra) - A Libyan delegation visited the National Aid Fund (NAF) on Thursday and learned about Jordan's experience in social protection, in a bid to exchange expertise and strengthen pan-Arab cooperation in this field. During her meeting with the Libyan delegation, the NAF's Director General, Khitam Shneikat, said the visit is "key" to exchange pan-Arab expertise, which contributes to raising level of social services for Arab citizens. Shneikat noted the visit reflects "confidence" of regional and international bodies in the NAF, which has become a "model to be emulated" in the areas of combating poverty and providing support to underprivileged households. Shenikat reviewed all the NAF's current programs, target groups, and its capability to update its initiatives and keep pace with economic and social developments. The Unified National Registry has contributed to increase "efficiency" of providing cash support and eliminating 80% of the required data, which has helped enhance spending efficiency and expand the target groups, enabling the NAF to monitor beneficiary cases on a monthly basis, she pointed out. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of digital transformation in the NAF operations, mainly in the field of payments, which has contributed to enhancing financial inclusion. Concluding their visit, the Libyan delegation expressed "pride" in this "unique" visit and the ideas, which would contribute to improve Libya's social protection system. The delegates also affirmed "keenness" to transfer this experience in planning and implementing services provided to impoverished families. //Petra// AG
