26/ AND Foils Major Drug Operations, Arrests 25 Suspects Across Jordan

Amman, May 8 (Petra) – The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said Thursday that it has handled nine major drug-related cases this week, resulting in the arrest of 25 individuals involved in trafficking, promotion, and smuggling of narcotics.

According to the PSD's media spokesperson, AND personnel have intensified their operations in recent days, leading to significant seizures and arrests across multiple governorates.

Among the most notable cases was the disruption of an attempt by two Arab nationals to manufacture the highly dangerous narcotic crystal meth inside Jordan. A specialized investigation team had been monitoring the suspects for months after receiving intelligence about the smuggling of chemicals into the country.

The suspects were arrested during a raid on an apartment in Irbid, where 15 kilograms of crystal meth and 10 liters of precursor chemicals were discovered.

In a separate case, four individuals were arrested in the Ruwaished District’s Manshiyat Al-Ghiyath area after authorities uncovered and seized 125,000 narcotic pills and two firearms at the scene.

Two smuggling attempts were thwarted at the Jaber Border Crossing. In the first incident, 12,000 narcotic pills and half a kilogram of crystal meth were found concealed in sweet and chocolate boxes in a vehicle. The driver and two accomplices inside the Kingdom were arrested. In the second incident, 65,000 narcotic pills were found hidden in cigarette packs inside another vehicle.

In the Jabal al-Taj area of Amman, a security sweep targeting wanted individuals led to the arrest of eight suspects, including a dangerous and armed individual. Various types of narcotics were also seized during the operation.

In the Northern Badia region, two suspects were apprehended for using social media platforms to sell narcotic pills. Authorities confiscated 7,000 pills from the suspects.

In Aqaba, AND units ambushed and arrested a drug dealer who was attempting to transport a large quantity of narcotics to the capital. His vehicle contained 12,000 narcotic pills, crystal meth, marijuana, and other drugs.

In Russeifa District, two drug dealers were arrested with eight hashish tablets and crystal meth in their possession. In Mafraq Governorate, another individual was arrested with four hashish tablets.

The PSD reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking and protect Jordanian society from the threats posed by narcotics.
