19/ House Speaker, Konrad Adenauer Delegation Discuss Jordan-Germany Cooperation
Amman, May 8 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmad Safadi met on Thursday with a delegation from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, headed by former President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Jordan, Germany, and the European Union. During the meeting, both sides commended the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II for political modernization, which they said has contributed to empowering political parties, women, and youth in Jordan. Safadi underscored the importance of Jordanian-German cooperation in serving the interests of both nations, highlighting the role of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and its development-focused initiatives in Jordan. He noted Jordan’s ongoing progress in implementing political, economic, and administrative modernization, aimed at expanding public participation in decision-making, bolstering party-based parliamentary engagement, and promoting the inclusion of women and youth in political life. Safadi also praised Germany’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and emphasized the need for a strong international stance to end the war on Gaza and ensure the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip. Lammert reaffirmed the importance of Jordan’s role in fostering regional stability and security, expressing the Foundation’s interest in expanding cooperation with the Jordanian Parliament. He highlighted the strength of relations between Jordan, Germany, and the EU, and expressed appreciation for Jordan’s reform efforts.
