15/ Jordan-Oman Parliamentary Committee Discusses Expanding Cooperation

Amman, May 8 (Petra) – The Jordanian-Omani Committee in the Lower House of Parliament, chaired by MP Yousef Rawadhiya, met on Thursday with Oman's Ambassador to Jordan, Fahad Alojaili, and Deputy Ambassador Yaqoub Al Ruqaishi to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly at the parliamentary level.

Rawadhiya highlighted the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two countries, founded on strong leadership and shared values.

He stressed the importance of building on these ties by activating bilateral agreements across key sectors such as economy, trade, health, agriculture, education, and scientific research to support sustainable development and mutual interests.

Alojaili expressed pride in the solid and evolving relationship between Jordan and Oman, noting that it is backed by the close support of both nations' leaderships.

He emphasized the strong cultural and educational connections, citing that over 2,300 Omani students are currently enrolled in Jordanian universities. He praised Jordan’s reputation in education and health and highlighted its appeal as an investment destination, especially in tourism and the economy.

Ruqaishi underlined the importance of continued educational cooperation, noting that Omani students in Jordan serve as a model of academic excellence and cultural exchange.

Committee members echoed the importance of deepening Jordanian-Omani relations, calling for broader parliamentary collaboration and increased mutual visits to share legislative expertise. They stressed that enhanced coordination would contribute positively to development and strengthen joint positions on regional and international matters of common concern.
