49/ Ajloun launches new tourist trail to mark Jordan’s 79th independence day

Ajloun, May 7 (Petra) – The Ajloun Culture Directorate launched a new tourist trail on Wednesday in celebration of Jordan’s 79th Independence Day.

Governor of Ajloun, Nayef Hidayat, who presided over the launch alongside MP Feryal Bani Salman, described Independence Day as a pivotal moment in the country's history. He said it symbolizes national pride and reflects the achievements realized under the Hashemite leadership toward building a better future.

Hidayat noted that the new trails will help attract more tourism to the governorate, strengthen cooperation among national institutions, and improve infrastructure and services to promote archaeological, cultural, and development sites, thereby extending tourists’ stays.

Director of the Ajloun Culture Directorate, Samer Freihat, said cultural trails serve as a bridge for national efforts to preserve collective memory, folklore, historical heritage, and local products that showcase national cultural creativity.

Meanwhile, Director of Antiquities Akram Al-Atoum highlighted that Ajloun is home to hundreds of archaeological sites. He said the new cultural and tourist trail is an important opportunity to highlight the region’s treasures, including restoration efforts at Ajloun Castle and other key sites.

Director of the Ajloun Tourism Directorate, Firas Khattatbeh noted a growing influx of tourists and investors to Ajloun, with several tourism projects underway or recently completed. He added that most tourism accommodations reached full occupancy during holidays and weekends.
