48/ 14th Int'l congress of Jordanian Society of Dermatology, Venereology opens in Amman
Amman, May 7 (Petra) – Under the patronage of HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, the 14th International Congress of the Jordanian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (JoDerm) opened in Amman on Wednesday, bringing together leading dermatologists and experts from the Arab world and beyond. President of the Jordan Medical Association, Issa Khashashneh, emphasized the congress' role in presenting the latest scientific developments in dermatology, enhancing regional and international collaboration, and improving healthcare quality through continued medical education. He warned against violations in the field of cosmetic medicine, citing serious infractions by unlicensed practitioners and the spread of misleading medical information on social media, which pose risks to patient safety. "The association will not tolerate intrusions into the profession," said Khashashneh, pledging support for scientific efforts that advance the field and uphold Jordan’s standing in medical excellence. Chair of the congress organizing committee, Mohammad Fawwaz, said the event serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, with participation from 600 physicians and specialists from Jordan and abroad. Over 40 local and international companies are also showcasing innovations in the accompanying medical exhibition, featuring the latest dermatological and non-surgical cosmetic technologies and treatments. Meanwhile, Firas Al Qarqaz, head of the scientific committee, noted that the congress includes more than 80 specialized scientific lectures and 23 workshops covering the latest advancements in dermatology, aesthetics, and laser treatments. The program also features in-depth sessions and interactive presentations, offering a rich educational and practical experience over three days. The congress has been accredited with six hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by the Jordan Medical Council, supporting professional growth in the medical field. On the sidelines of the event, Princess Wijdan inaugurated the accompanying medical exhibition, highlighting cutting-edge technologies in dermatology and non-invasive cosmetic procedures. //Petra// AF
