39/ Agriculture Ministry warns farmers of fungal disease risk amid weather conditions
Amman, May 7 (Petra) – The Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday urged farmers to exercise caution in the coming days due to prevailing weather conditions that may encourage the spread of fungal diseases among crops. In a statement, the ministry said the current climate creates a favorable environment for fungal growth, which could cause significant damage to fruit-bearing trees such as grapes, almonds, olives, and citrus, among other crops. The ministry called on farmers to take appropriate preventive measures by using broad-spectrum, agriculturally approved fungicides and to apply them during early morning or evening hours. It also stressed the importance of adhering to recommended safety intervals and avoiding spraying during the flowering period to protect bees and preserve ecological balance. //Petra// AF
