Amman, May 7 (Petra) – Director General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Nizar Mheidat, participated as a keynote speaker at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Convention held in the United States. According to a JFDA statement issued on Wednesday, Mheidat addressed a session opened by the USP’s CEO and attended by regulatory authorities from around the world, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Brazil, the European Union, Canada, and Japan, among others. The event also featured a series of meetings and networking sessions. In his remarks, Mheidat outlined Jordan’s progress in pharmaceutical regulatory oversight, particularly in the registration and monitoring of biological and biosimilar drugs, and the JFDA’s adherence to international quality and safety standards in drug analysis. The JFDA, an active member of the USP Convention since 2010, said its participation underscores ongoing global cooperation and its commitment to international standards for drug testing and development. Held once every five years, the USP Convention brings together regulators, academics, and scientific experts to discuss global advancements in drug safety, efficacy, and quality and to review the USP’s role in enhancing pharmaceutical analysis and reference standards. //Petra// AF
