28/ HCST launches research day at 3 Jordanian public universities

Amman, May 7 (Petra) –Higher Council For Science And Technology (HCST), in cooperation with the European Commission, organized the "Jordanian-European Research Day 2025" at University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Mutah University.

Hundreds of Jordanian researchers, academics, and representatives from universities and research institutions attended the event.

The event aimed to enhance engagement of Jordanian researchers in the EU programs- Horizon Europe, PRIMA and COST- by highlighting their dimensions in the research and innovation fields, and mechanisms for integrating their roles to achieve a "broader" impact and increase opportunities to receive funding.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, HCST Secretary-General, Dr. Mashhour Rifai, said the event falls within the Council's "strategic" efforts to qualify researchers and enhance their "readiness" to submit "quality" projects to compete internationally and obtain the necessary funding.

Rifai added that the HCST, in cooperation with universities and research institutions, seeks to consolidate research cooperation with the EU and expand base of beneficiaries of its funding programs.

Rifai said this effort would contribute to support national development priorities, particularly in water, energy, food security, artificial intelligence, and agriculture areas.

Meanwhile, European Commission Representative Dr. Hiba Jaber praised the HCST's efforts in building "solid" research partnerships with the bloc, stressing the Commission's aspiration to enhance participation of Jordanian universities in EU-funded projects and programs.

The three-day program introduced the participants on the mechanism to benefit from EU support programs.
