Aqaba, May 6 (Petra) – Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Fayez, met on Tuesday with Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan, Talgat Shaldanbay, during the ambassador’s first visit to the port city following Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official trip to Jordan in February. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation across various sectors, particularly economic, commercial, and tourism fields, in addition to knowledge exchange aimed at fostering greater investment and economic integration. Fayez emphasized the need to build on existing bilateral agreements and establish strategic partnerships that serve mutual interests. He noted that Aqaba, with its modern infrastructure, strategic location at the intersection of three continents, and network of free trade agreements, offers a favorable investment environment and a gateway for Kazakh exports to global markets. Ambassador Shaldanbay expressed Kazakhstan’s keen interest in expanding cooperation with Jordan and praised the promising economic opportunities available in Aqaba. He highlighted that Kazakhstan’s 15 special economic zones provide a foundation for future memoranda of understanding and cooperation with ASEZA to build long-term partnerships. He added that a Kazakh economic delegation is expected to visit Aqaba in the near future to follow up on areas of mutual cooperation, explore investment opportunities, and review the incentives offered to investors across various sectors. The ambassador’s visit also included a tour of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management, where he was briefed on the port’s advanced logistical capabilities and services and its key role in supporting regional supply chains and trade exchanges. //Petra// AF
