32/ Yarmouk University, Senegalese Embassy explore academic cooperation
Irbid, May 6 (Petra) – Yarmouk University President Dr. Islam Massad met on Monday with Mamadou Mbengue, Advisor and Head of the Office for Senegalese Students in Arab Countries at the Senegalese Embassy in Cairo, to discuss academic cooperation and the welfare of Senegalese students studying in Jordan. Massad affirmed Yarmouk University’s strong commitment to supporting its international students, highlighting their role as ambassadors for Jordan and the university upon returning to their home countries. He stressed the university's alignment with Jordan's broader efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to promote the Arabic language and Islamic sciences, adding that students from Muslim countries are welcomed and offered the same tuition rates as Jordanian students. Massad also said Yarmouk University adheres to the regulations issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and agreements with the Senegalese government and expressed readiness to facilitate the enrollment and academic journey of Senegalese students across various disciplines. Mbengue praised the academic reputation of Jordan’s higher education sector and Yarmouk University’s prominent status in Jordan, the Arab world, and beyond. He noted the success of Yarmouk’s graduates in professional fields as evidence of the university’s high standards. He voiced the Senegalese Embassy’s readiness to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Yarmouk University and Senegalese universities and to boost the number of Senegalese students pursuing degrees particularly in Islamic studies, jurisprudence, and Arabic language and literature. Currently, 17 Senegalese students are enrolled at Yarmouk University in Arabic and Islamic studies, and six Senegalese students have graduated to date. //Petra// AF
