28/ Jordanian Nizar Haddad named FAO Saudi Arabia Representative
Amman, May 6 (Petra) - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced appointment of Dr. Nizar Haddad as its Representative and Program Manager in Saudi Arabia, a move aimed at strengthening the organization's regional presence and accelerating implementation of its development programs. In a statement Tuesday, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, Dr. AbdulHakim Elwaer, said the decision reflects the organization's "confidence" in Dr. Haddad's leadership experience and his anticipated role in supporting food security and enhancing sustainability of agricultural systems in the region. Haddad, who is a key scientific figure in the agriculture and innovation fields, previously served as Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center (NCAR) in Jordan, leading "a qualitative" shift in research and technical work by launching e-NARC platform and establishing the National Seed Bank. Academically, Haddad has authored 17 books and published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is fluent in several languages, mainly English, Russian, Chinese, French, and Spanish. Additionally, he holds a PhD in Animal Science and Agricultural Sciences from the Belgorod State Agricultural Academy in Russia, Master's degree and a postgraduate diploma in strategic and national resource management. //Petra// AG
