29/ Egyptian Air Cairo operates 1st regular flight to Amman

Amman, May 4 (Petra) - Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) recently received the first Air Cairo flight from the Egyptian capital, carrying 150 passengers of various nationalities, as part of a "new" operating route connecting Cairo and Amman.

According to Air Cairo statement on Sunday, the new route reflects the "strength" of Jordanian-Egyptian tourist and economic activity and importance of joint direct traffic, as 2 flights are scheduled per week on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The maiden flight comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and affirms importance of this airline in supporting bilateral travel, tourism, and trade exchange.

The statement added that this new route is part of Air Cairo's strategy, the economic arm of Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation, to expand its network of regional and international routes and provide "convenient" aviation services that meet traveler needs of various nationalities, amid the "growing" demand for Egypt- Jordan trips.

The operation of the 2 regular weekly flights is expected to contribute to support the tourist and travel sectors and facilitate movement of business travelers, students and residents, which would strengthen the close and historic bilateral ties, the ariliner pointed out.

The QAIA witnessed a special celebration for the arrival of Flight SM217 from Cairo, while Flight SM218 departed from Amman, returning to Cairo International Airport.
