12/ 'Jordan: Dawn of Christianity' exhibition concludes at Vatican
Amman, Mar. 27 (Petra) - "Jordan: The Dawn of Christianity" exhibition has concluded at the Vatican, which launched on January 31st, achieving "exceptional success and attracting thousands of visitors from around the world." According to a statement released by Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) on Thursday, the event featured a collection of "rare" artifacts representing "pivotal" stages in the Kingdom's Christian history. The statement added that some artifacts were showcased for the first time outside Jordan, giving visitors a "rare" opportunity to discover archaeological treasures that document the beginnings of Christianity in Jordan. Due to the "remarkable" turnout and "widespread" interaction, the JTB decided to extend the exhibition's duration, which was scheduled to conclude on February 28th, allowing a "greater" number of visitors to discover Jordan's cultural treasures, the statement pointed out. The JTB indicated that the exhibits focused on the spiritual depth of the Kingdom's holy sites, mainly the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ on Jordan River, a destination for the Christian pilgrimage sites recognized by the Vatican. The JTB said the exhibition offered a "rich" visual and content experience, as visitors were introduced to a "historical and spiritual" narrative that reflects Jordan's heritage as the land of the prophets and civilizations. Noting the exhibition's "special" importance, the JTB said the event consolidated and promoted religious tourism to Jordan, as the Kingdom is home to five sites officially recognized by the Vatican as Christian pilgrimage sites, namely Baptism Site, Mount Nebo, Machaerus, Lady of the Mount in Anjara, and Tell Mar Elias. //Petra// AG
