27/ EU conditions Russia's withdrawal from Ukrainian territory for lifting sanctions

Amman, March 26 (Petra) -- The EU said on Wednesday that the "unconditional" withdrawal of Russian forces from all of Ukraine is one of the main conditions for lifting or easing European sanctions on Russia.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the EU spokesperson said ending the war and the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from all of Ukraine are essential conditions for modifying or lifting the sanctions.

Russia is demanding the lifting of the sanctions, even partially, as a precondition for any implementation of the agreements reached at the conclusion of US-sponsored talks held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with separate Russian and Ukrainian delegations.

Moscow and Washington agreed to a truce in the Black Sea during the Riyadh talks, during which Russia demanded the lifting of several sanctions, particularly those imposed on its agricultural bank, Rosselkhozbank, which affect the financing of its agricultural exports, according to a statement issued by the Kremlin.

The US announced on Tuesday that it would support the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilisers.
