23/ FM meets German, Austrian Interior Ministers
Amman, March 26 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Wednesday with German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner. The meeting discussed prospects of cementing relations between Jordan and Germany and Austria, within the framework of the strategic partnership with the European Union, in addition to joint coordination on developments in the region. Safadi stressed the need for concerted efforts to immediately halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, commit to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, and open the crossings to deliver humanitarian aid to various parts of the Strip. The meeting also tackled developments in Syria, emphasizing the need to support the Syrian people in rebuilding their country through a Syrian-Syrian political process based on principles that guarantee Syria's unity, security, stability, and sovereignty, eliminate terrorism, and preserve the rights of all Syrians. Safadi stressed the need to continue supporting refugees, the organizations that care for them, and host countries, in parallel with intensive efforts to create an appropriate environment for their voluntary return homes. The German and Austrian ministers lauded Jordan's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to achieve security, stability, and peace in the region. //Petra//SS
