12/ 1st laparoscopic kidney removal surgery at Madaba government hospital
Madaba, March 26 (Petra) – A medical team at Al-Nadeem Government Hospital in Madaba on Wednesday performed the first laparoscopic surgery to remove a kidney from a patient with a large tumor. "This qualitative operation is part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to develop Al-Nadeem Hospital and ease the pressure on central hospitals in the Kingdom," commented hospital director Baha' al-Din al-Halalmeh. "It is one of the most difficult and dangerous laparoscopic surgeries, a procedure that involves removal of the kidney through four small keyhole incisions in the abdomen, instead of the traditional surgery in the flank," said Dr. Rashed al-Khalayleh, the kidney and urinary tract specialist who supervised the operation. It is characterized by a rapid recovery of the patient due to the absence of a large incision in the abdomen, he pointed out. //Petra//SS
