7/ International Marathon for People with Disabilities to be Organized in Aqaba

Amman, March 25 (Petra) -- The Jordan Marathon Association and the Jordan Paralympic Committee have entered into a strategic partnership to promote the involvement of individuals with disabilities in sports activities.

In a significant development for disabled sports in Jordan, Lina Al-Kurd, CEO of the Jordan Marathon Association "Run Jordan," met with Omar Hindawi, Chairman of the Jordan Paralympic Committee, to discuss a collaborative effort aimed at boosting the participation of people with disabilities in athletic events.

The meeting culminated in the agreement to organize the first-ever international marathon dedicated to individuals with disabilities in Aqaba. The event, which is set to attract participants from across the Kingdom, will be managed by a joint committee responsible for overseeing its planning and execution, ensuring the event meets both its athletic and community objectives.

Hindawi emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting Run Jordan's role in pioneering opportunities for people with disabilities in the sports sector.

Al-Kurd expressed the association's enthusiasm for the initiative and its commitment to facilitating all necessary resources to ensure the marathon's success.

This milestone event is expected to elevate the status of disability sports in Jordan, further positioning the country as a key regional and international hub for inclusive sports activities, and contributing to ongoing efforts to integrate people with disabilities into the global sports community.
