23/ JSMO 'committed' to boosting Jordan's standard specifications-Director

Amman, March 25 (Petra) – Under the theme: "Standardisation: A Bridge to Arab Economic Integration," the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation (JSMO) is celebrating Arab Standardization Day with Arab countries, which falls on March 25 annually.

In a statement on Tuesday, JSMO Director General Abeer Zuhair affirmed standardization is a "key" pillar for enhancing national production, raising quality of Arab industries, and driving Arab economic growth.

Zuhair stated issuing unified Arab standard specifications plays a "pivotal" role in removing technical barriers to trade, facilitating mutual trade flow, and meeting requirements of the common Arab market.

Zuhair added that this process also opens "new" horizons for Arab products, enhancing their competitiveness at the regional and international levels.

Additionally, she called for intensifying Arab efforts to enhance joint cooperation, noting coordination in the field of standard specifications is a "crucial" factor for achieving Arab economic integration and supporting Arab industries, which contributes to providing a "stronger and more integrated" Arab economic environment.

Zuhair pointed out the organization's ongoing commitment to developing the quality infrastructure by issuing Jordanian standard specifications in accordance with international best practices, ensuring protection of citizens' health and environmental safety while supporting "competitiveness" of Jordanian products.

To date, she announced the organization has so far issued over 3,000 Jordanian standard specifications and technical bases for various products and services.
