11/ Youth Dialogues Address Impact of Climate Change on Jordan's Health Sector
Amman, March 25 (Petra) -- The Green Team of the Jordan Health Aid Society hosted a series of youth dialogues throughout March to examine the effects of climate change on Jordan's health sector. The sessions included volunteers from diverse age groups, with a particular focus on students from medical and pharmacy faculties. The dialogues aimed to assess the health challenges posed by climate change and to explore the role of young people in ensuring the sustainability of the healthcare system. Participants stressed the importance of accelerating digital transformation in the health sector, highlighting how automation and digitization can help reduce carbon emissions, lower operational costs, and promote scientific research. They also advocated for the expansion of the "Hakeem" program to encompass all healthcare institutions. Furthermore, participants called for the development of a comprehensive digital system to track epidemics and health-related disasters, in addition to providing training for healthcare professionals and local communities. Another key point raised was the need for specialized training programs focused on climate change and its impact on health. Participants also suggested creating educational materials to increase awareness of climate-related terminology, aiming to involve youth in decision-making processes. The dialogues emphasized the importance of empowering young people to take an active role in shaping policies and programs related to climate change in healthcare, recognizing their potential as key contributors to achieving health sustainability. This initiative is part of the Jordan Health Aid Society’s broader efforts to engage youth in addressing climate change and building a resilient healthcare system capable of responding to future environmental challenges. //Petra// RZ
