Salt, March 24 (Petra) – The Salt Sons Initiative, Takiyat Al-Salt, and Masar Al-Khair hosted a Ramadan iftar on Monday in the historic heart of Salt for children from Gaza undergoing medical treatment in Jordan, with broad participation from local residents and students from Arab communities.
Described as the "longest table in the city," the iftar gathering brought together children and their families with volunteers who served Ramadan meals in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
Mayor of Greater Salt Municipality, Mohammad Hiyari, welcomed the children, highlighting the city’s deep-rooted values of solidarity and generosity. He emphasized that the initiative reflects Salt’s historical role in supporting humanitarian causes, volunteer efforts, and Jordanian hospitality.
Hamza Awamleh, the initiative’s organizer, noted that this annual event, led by the Salt Sons Initiative, Takiyat Al-Salt, and local residents, aims to reinforce values of solidarity and urban hospitality, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The children who attended the iftar are part of a group brought to Jordan for cancer treatment under directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II. Residents of Salt warmly welcomed them, reaffirming that they are "guests of Jordan and His Majesty the King" and that it is the community’s duty to support them in their treatment journey.
The event featured entertainment segments and symbolic gifts for the children, aimed at uplifting their spirits and instilling hope. Organizers affirmed their commitment to continuing such initiatives, which highlight Jordan’s humanitarian role under its Hashemite leadership and the generosity of its people.
