32/ GAM approves urban planning regulations for 2025
Amman, March 24 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Council approved on Monday the draft Planning and Zoning Regulations for 2025, paving the way for the necessary legal procedures to implement them. During the session, chaired by Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, the council also endorsed draft guidelines on flagpole dimensions for buildings within the municipality’s jurisdiction. These guidelines fall under Article (2) of the amended Buildings and Zoning Regulation for Amman, No. (13) of 2025. Shawarbeh extended his congratulations, on behalf of the council and municipality employees, to His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II ahead of Eid al-Fitr, expressing hopes for peace and an end to violence against Palestinians. The council approved a cooperation agreement with the Jordan Insurance Federation to facilitate the collection of traffic fines from foreign vehicles. It also endorsed an agreement with Maharat for Computer Driving Skills to accredit training and testing centers for the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) program. Additionally, the council agreed to a cooperation deal with the Ministry of Finance’s Public Funds Directorate to facilitate the collection of municipal dues, including property tax and other outstanding payments. A memorandum of understanding with the West Irbid Municipality was also approved to enhance comprehensive planning, sustainable development, and institutional performance. //Petra// AF
