15/ Lawmakers applaud Jordan's position on Gaza
Amman, March 24 (Petra) - Lawmakers on Monday expressed pride in Jordan's support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, commending the Kingdom's call for cessation of Israel's aggression on the Palestinian people. During a session chaired by Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi and attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and cabinet ministers, MPs denounced Israel's resumption of "the series of genocide perpetrated against the people of Gaza, and halting humanitarian, medical, and food aid." Jordan's stance is conspicuous, undeniable and cannot be discredited, they said, calling for a solid internal front due to the tough conditions, and support for the Kingdom's position. "It is fair to say Jordan has provided and continues to provide maximum support to the people of Gaza," they said, adding that His Majesty King Abdullah II carried every Jordanian's stand toward the suffering of Gaza in all meetings, internally and externally. They said Israel no longer recognizes the international law and international legitimacy, urging urgent action to halt the aggression. The MPs said the situation in the region today, particularly in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, requires a unified stand in support of the Jordanian state in countering Israeli schemes. They saluted the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the people of Gaza, "who are facing the machine of death, massacres, and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the occupiers," calling for an active role by Arab parliaments against Israeli designs. The lawmakers called for the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and start reconstruction of the strip. //Petra//SS
