7/ Fake Cops Snagged After Robbing Expats

Amman, March 23 (Petra) -- A crew posing as security officers hit an expatriate home in central Amman, making off with thousands in cash, but four are now in custody, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

A PSD spokesperson said the victims reported the suspects entered their residence, claiming to be law enforcement, and swiped 4,000 Jordanian Dinars.

A joint task force from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Central Amman Police was swiftly assembled, identifying the getaway vehicles and triggering a nation-wide alert.

A patrol in Irbid, north, located and stopped one of the suspect vehicles, leading to the apprehension of four individuals, who were positively identified by the victims. A portion of the stolen cash was recovered; a fifth suspect is still at large.

The PSD is advising expatriate residents to exercise extreme caution and demand credentials from anyone claiming to be a security officer. Residents are urged to dial 911 if they encounter suspicious activity.
