37/ Italian delegation visits Aqaba
Aqaba, March 23 (Petra) – The Jordan Tourism Board (JBT) and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) hosted a high-level Italian media delegation on Sunday to showcase the unique tourism and investment opportunities offered by the city of Aqaba. The event was part of a comprehensive promotional program highlighting Aqaba’s blend of heritage and modernity, as well as its promising tourism experiences. During the meeting, Ayman Suleiman, ASEZA Commissioner for Environment and Natural Reserves, emphasized Aqaba’s significance as a comprehensive tourist destination offering diverse experiences and products. He noted that this makes Aqaba an attractive destination for the Italian market, which is one of the key markets for both Aqaba and Jordan as a whole. Suleiman highlighted the investment incentives provided by ASEZA, along with the attractive investment environment and ongoing tourism projects. He also pointed to the variety of tourism events and activities organized by ASEZA, which enhance Aqaba’s competitiveness as a global tourism and investment hub. He provided a detailed explanation of ASEZA’s 2024-2028 strategic plan, outlining its seven main pillars aimed at developing tourism in the region while preserving its unique environment. Suleiman also showcased Aqaba’s advanced port system and its pivotal role in supporting economic and tourism activities. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of Wadi Rum as a tourist destination with exceptional historical and natural value, as well as the international awards and certifications received by the Aqaba Marine Reserve, which reflect Jordan’s commitment to protecting marine environments and promoting sustainable tourism. For their part, members of the Italian media delegation praised the development and modernization of infrastructure in Aqaba, Wadi Rum, and Petra, noting that these destinations represent a remarkable model of blending ancient heritage with modern progress. They also commended the wide range of tourism experiences available, from desert adventures in Wadi Rum to relaxation on the Red Sea shores and enjoying the region’s unique natural beauty.
