26/ FM receives phone call from Iranian counterpart

Amman, March 23 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi received a phone call on Sunday from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region and the escalating tensions.

Safadi warned of the serious repercussions of the ongoing escalation on regional security and stability.

He condemned Israel’s assault on Gaza, stressing the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to halt the violence, secure a lasting ceasefire, and ensure Israel's adherence to the prisoner exchange agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Safadi also called for a firm and clear international stance to compel Israel to uphold the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, halt its attacks on Syria, and abide by the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.

The two ministers also discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
