Amman, Mar. 23 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, , South African Ambassador Tselane Mokuena, and UN Women Country Representative in Jordan Nicolas Burniat, on Sunday discussed South Africa's initiative to provide a $2 million development grant to combat poverty through the International Development Association (IDA).

During his meeting with the S. African enoy, Hneifat was briefed on the details of a proposal prepared by UN Women to use treated water from the new Tafilah desalination plant to establish a "sustainable" agricultural project to produce cut flowers in southern Tafilah governorate and expand fodder cultivation.

Valuing this support, Hneifat stressed the importance of the project in creating job opportunities for the region's people and introducing new crops that would have a "significant" impact on the community, particularly cut flowers and fodder cultivation.
