17/ Israeli has 849 military checkpoints in occupied West Bank
Ramallah, March 23 (Petra) -- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territories has reported that Israel has established 849 checkpoints throughout the occupied West Bank, including 288 road gates. In a report issued on Sunday, OCHA noted that 36 new obstacles have been added over the past three months, primarily set up after the ceasefire was declared in the Gaza Strip in mid-January. This increase further restricts Palestinians' access to essential services and workplaces. The report highlighted the ongoing Israeli military actions in areas of northern West Bank, stating that over 600 housing units in the city of Jenin have been rendered uninhabitable, while 66 residential buildings are at risk of imminent demolition. The Israeli military has intensified its operations in Jenin and its refugee camp for the 62nd consecutive day, resulting in the deaths of 34 Palestinians, along with numerous injuries and arrests. According to the Jenin Municipality, the number of displaced persons from the camp has reached 21,000, with individuals relocated between the city and surrounding villages. The municipality reported that Israeli forces have bulldozed all of the camp's streets and 80 percent of the streets in Jenin city, displacing residents from 3,200 homes within the camp. The Israeli forces conducted a large-scale campaign of raids and arrests across multiple areas of the occupied West Bank on Sunday, detentaining 14 Palestinians, as reported by the Palestinian Prisoners' Club. //Petra// AK
