12/ Registration Opens for 29th Dead Sea Ultramarathon 2025

Amman, March 23 (Petra) – The Run Jordan Association has announced the opening of registration for the 29th edition of the Dead Sea Ultramarathon, set to take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, in the Dead Sea area.

Held annually, the event is among the most prominent sporting competitions in the region, attracting elite and amateur runners from various nationalities and age groups. Its unique appeal lies in its setting at the lowest point on Earth and its reputation for endurance and athletic excellence.

The ultramarathon aligns with the association’s mission to promote a culture of running and highlight the importance of sports as part of a healthy lifestyle. It also supports volunteerism and empowers youth by providing opportunities for engagement in organizing and achieving sustainable development goals.

According to the association, registration began last week at its headquarters in Shmeisani, with online registration available through its official website, www.runjordan.com. Registration for the main races will remain open until April 10, while entries for the children’s race will be accepted until April 17.

Lina Kurd, General Manager of Run Jordan, highlighted the significance of the Dead Sea Ultramarathon, noting that it not only presents a physical challenge but also conveys humanitarian and social messages that reinforce Jordan’s standing in global sports.

She announced that 20% of registration fees will be allocated to support Palestinians in Gaza, in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, as part of the association’s commitment to solidarity and social responsibility.

Kurd also commended the Greater Amman Municipality for its role as a strategic partner, along with the continued support of Jordan Bromine as the official sponsor. Additionally, she acknowledged the cooperation of security agencies, universities, and volunteer platforms such as the All Jordan Youth Commission and the "Nahno" platform.

The association emphasized that the race is organized in accordance with international standards, incorporating advanced electronic timing and comprehensive logistical preparations to ensure a seamless and professional event.

Final adjustments have been made to the race route, including start and finish points and event locations, to guarantee a safe and optimal experience for participants.

The Dead Sea Ultramarathon consists of three main races: a 50-kilometer ultramarathon (individual and relay), a 21-kilometer half marathon including a category for visually impaired and wheelchair participants and a 10-kilometer race for visually impaired and wheelchair athletes.

Additionally, a children’s race will take place on Friday, April 18, at Al Hussein Gardens, targeting participants aged 6 to 14 to foster a culture of running and healthy competition among youth.
