Within the framework of enhancing export "competitiveness" and enabling Jordanian companies to enter new markets, the committee is following up on the implementation of the 2nd phase of the Export Acceleration Program, which provides financial support to 52 industrial companies to implement their export plans. According to a ministry statement, the participants presented a slew of initiatives to support exporting companies, mainly Export Support Program, which aims to support 100 companies owned by businesswomen by providing assistance on technical compliance with international standards, and conducting product quality assessments to enhance their "competitiveness." The committee's plan seeks to boost export of Jordanian products to developed markets by aligning Jordanian legislation and technical procedures. On presence at the Arab level, the statement noted 2 trade fairs were organized in Iraq and Qatar in the first quarter of this year, in addition to participation in an exhibition in Libya. To enhance "efficiency" of logistics infrastructure and facilitate cross-border trade procedures, a report was issued on non-tariff trade barriers. The statement stated the team also presented progress on a draft feasibility study to improve handling processes of perishable goods at Queen Alia International Airport. The committee agreed to begin implementing a set of initiatives aimed at promoting and expanding export of Jordanian services to international markets. Under these initiatives, awareness workshops will be held for companies on market information for trading partners, while service establishments in Jordan will be registered on the Jordan Export Platform. Zoubi affirmed the discussion reflects the "shared commitment" of all stakeholders from the public and private sectors to achieving the strategy's objectives and achieving a "qualitative leap in Jordanian export progress." //Petra// AG
