Cairo, March 19 (Petra) -- Egypt on Wednesday condemned an attack targeting Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The president narrowly escaped a roadside bombing assassination attempt as his entourage headed to the airport in Mogadishu.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry denounced "this action and expressed its rejection of violence and terrorism that threaten the peace and stability of sisterly Somalia," reiterating its solidarity with the president and people of Somalia.
