Zarqa, Mar. 13 (Petra) - -Zarqa Unified Market Control Committee carried out 1,349 intensive inspection visits from the beginning of Ramadan until Wednesday evening.

These tours led to the closure of 4 food establishments, while operations of 89 others were suspended and 31 tickets for violations were issued.

Meanwhile, 343 various entities were warned to rectify their conditions and ensure their compliance with required health standards.

During the campaign, 20 kilograms of expired food items on display for sale were destroyed, reflecting the "serious" government's approach to address any violations that may threaten the consumers' health.

Zarqa Governor Dr. Firas Abu Qaoud noted these measures were taken due to irregularities of public health standards and improper food storage.

Abu Qaoud stated inspection campaigns are "ongoing" to ensure the citizens' health and safety during the holy month, vowing "zero tolerance" for any violations that pose a threat to the public health and safety.

Additionally, he underlined importance of orchestrating monitoring efforts and enhancing coordination among relevant institutions to ensure market stability and meet citizens' needs.
