12/ Parliamentary Delegation Meets Greek Orthodox Patriarch in Egypt
Amman, March 13 (Petra) – A Jordanian parliamentary delegation, led by MP Wasfi Haddad, met Wednesday with Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, on the sidelines of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy meetings in Egypt. Haddad underscored the significance of peace as a cornerstone of coexistence, stressing that true peace originates in the hearts before being established in nations. He highlighted that religious teachings advocate love and brotherhood, emphasizing that tolerance and coexistence pave the way for global harmony and collective efforts to address contemporary challenges. MPs Jamal Qamouh, Hayel Ayyash, Iyad Jabreen, Jihad Abboui, and Rand Khazouz affirmed that the meeting reflects Christian unity and embodies values of love and tolerance. They reiterated the importance of mutual support in building societies founded on peace and coexistence. Theodoros II emphasized the need for joint efforts to advance justice, peace, and development in the face of global challenges. He briefed the delegation on the Patriarchate’s charitable and humanitarian initiatives, including plans to establish a center for cooperation and friendship to foster dialogue and cultural understanding.
