5/ 40 ICT entities launch training initiative to integrate persons with disabilities

Amman, June 28 (Petra) -Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) and Orange Jordan, held a session, themed: "Effective Integration and Communication with Persons with Disabilities in the ICT Sector."

According to an Orange Jordan statement on Saturday, approximately 40 representatives of ICT companies and several relevant entities took part in the event, as well as a number of persons with disabilities.

The session, which is part of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, was implemented in cooperation with the ministry's Inclusion Unit.

The participants received a "comprehensive" training program, aimed to promote and build an "inclusive" work environment and encourage "thorough" communication with persons with disabilities within ICT sector institutions by creating "true" opportunities for this group in the industry.

By hosting this event, Orange Jordan affirmed its "ongoing commitment" to creating an "equal and inclusive" workplace by developing training programs that meet needs of various social groups.

The effort stems from the company's belief in the right of persons with disabilities to enjoy employment and inclusion within the technology and innovation sector, and reflects its "commitment" to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals within "clear" policies that guarantee the right to work, the stateent pointed out.

Talking to the event, Rawwan Barakat, HCD Chair, said this cooperation aims to achieve the Council's goal of including persons with disabilities in programs, plans, and policies that seek to empower them economically, especially women.

This training session will enhance skills of private sector workers in integrating persons with disabilities in employment or training opportunities.

During the training activities, the attendees went over multiple technical guides in the technology fields and design a training program to achieve an "inclusive" work landscape.

A questionnaire was launched to identify needs and challenges of persons with disabilities in technical work environments.
