20/ Jordan Automotive Dealers Association praises tax reductions, reforms

Amman, June 28 (Petra) -- Jordan Automotive Dealers Association (JADA) expressed support for the government's decisions to reduce the overall taxes on vehicles and enhance oversight of imported cars through adherence to international standards.

In a statement issued Saturday, JADA said the decision to cut taxes is part of a comprehensive structural reform package aimed at modernising and regulating the automotive sector.

The reforms are expected to help ease the financial burden on buyers, enabling more affordable access to vehicles that meet quality standards and suit their needs, according to the statement.

JADA highlighted that the measures establish clear, binding standards for vehicle imports, safeguarding consumer rights and promoting the introduction of high-quality vehicles aligned with European, American and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) specifications.

Such measures are anticipated to boost consumer confidence, improve safety and enhance the technical efficiency of vehicles on the road, the statement explains.

It notes that the reforms address longstanding financial and structural challenges within the sector, opening new opportunities for diversification and market revitalisation.

They are expected to attract investments into this vital commercial industry and generate additional employment opportunities for Jordanian professionals.

JADA President Mohammed Elayan said the recent decisions reflect a mature economic vision focused on prioritising people's interests by reducing costs, ensuring fairness and upholding high standards of quality and safety.

Elayan emphasised that the government's restructuring of the automotive sector signifies a comprehensive approach to reform, aimed at improving the investment climate and fostering stability and growth in the market.

The efforts, Elayan said, would support the national economy and promote sustainable development.
