  12/ Prince Al Hussein: A Year of Sustained Engagement Cultivating Jordan's Future

Amman, June 28 (Petra) – His Royal Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, stands as a driving force behind Jordan's youth, consistently engaging with them, empowering their potential, and ensuring their pivotal role in shaping the nation's destiny. This unwavering commitment to progress and generational empowerment marks a distinct era of leadership.

As His Royal Highness celebrates his thirty-first birthday this June, we look back on a remarkable year. From June 2024 to the present, the Crown Prince undertook over 80 significant meetings and initiatives, reflecting a dynamic and persistent pursuit of optimal opportunities for Jordan's young people and the generations to come.

June 2024 saw the Crown Prince launch the Tawasol Forum activities and preside over two significant military graduation ceremonies: the 33rd cohort of the Military Wing at Mutah University and the 53rd Air Force Officer Cadets' Course.

Demonstrating a foresight into modern challenges, he also inaugurated an international cybersecurity competition in Amman.

Last July, His Royal Highness's diverse agenda included visits to the Al-Raya Media Group and the Sixth Royal Border Guard Battalion Command. He meticulously reviewed the National Cybersecurity Program's progress and observed a tactical military exercise in the Central Military Region.

Beyond these, the Crown Prince patronized Al-Ahli Club's 80th-anniversary celebration, officially opened the headquarters for the "42 Amman" computer science and programming program, and met with both the Olympic and Paralympic delegations bound for Paris. His engagements further extended to a visit to the Ministry of Interior, where he chaired a crucial meeting of the Supreme Council for Traffic Safety.

In August 2024, His Royal Highness inaugurated an international forum in Amman dedicated to Youth, Peace, and Security. He also held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Arab League on regional developments and personally honored the nation's top-achieving high school students.

September 2024 saw the Crown Prince observe a military exercise at the Royal Jordanian Command and Staff College and visit the General Command of the Armed Forces.

A staunch advocate for technological advancement, he underscored the critical importance of digital and technological sciences in enhancing youth employment opportunities and sponsored the launch of the Second Jordan Cybersecurity Summit.

Furthermore, His Royal Highness emphasized the vital role of Public Security Directorate personnel in securing tourist sites and preserving the environment, while stressing the imperative to remove any obstacles for investors and bolster industrial growth in Aqaba.

During October 2024, His Royal Highness engaged in high-level diplomatic efforts, including a meeting with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He took an active role in the Future Investment Initiative conference and convened with numerous chief executive officers and founders of leading technology companies and organizations. Upon his return to Jordan, he sponsored the closing ceremony of the Jordan Festival for Camel Racing and Nabataean Poetry.

November 2024 marked the inauguration of the comprehensive rehabilitation project for the Ghor Al Mazra'a Health Center and the presiding over the graduation of the fifth cohort of "Knights of the Future" officers.

A key voice on the global stage, he delivered Jordan's address at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Azerbaijan. There, he engaged with numerous heads of state and delegation leaders, holding discussions with the UN Secretary-General, the Executive Director of UNICEF, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Director of the Green Climate Fund.

Last December, the Crown Prince undertook a significant visit to Kuwait, where he met with its Emir and engaged in discussions with its Crown Prince. His itinerary also included a meeting with the Director-General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, a visit to the Al-Salam Palace Museum, and discussions with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and leaders of Kuwaiti media institutions. Upon his return, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa visited a specialized center dedicated to treating speech and language disorders.

The first month of this year, January 2025, saw His Royal Highness participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos. During his time there, he met with the Singaporean President and the Lord Mayor of the City of London. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization and exploring collaborations with global companies to advance the National Council for Future Technology's objectives.

He also met with the interim Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, and the head of the Bahraini delegation to the World Economic Forum. Returning to Jordan, he chaired the inaugural meeting of the National Council for Future Technology and subsequently inaugurated the Government Services Center in Madaba.

This February, His Royal Highness's regional engagements included visits to Turkey, where he met with President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, and Egypt, where he convened with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo. In Washington, he discussed avenues for strengthening cooperation with the US Secretary of Energy. Upon his return, he paid respects at the tomb of the late King Hussein on the 26th anniversary of his passing and chaired the second meeting of the National Council for Future Technology.

Last March, His Royal Highness exemplified his connection with military and civil society alike. He shared an Iftar meal with personnel from the Royal Naval Force and Royal Boats Command and, alongside Princess Rajwa, hosted an Iftar for orphans from various governorates.

Emphasizing strategic development, the Crown Prince called for the National Council for Future Technology to prioritize digital infrastructure development and sponsored the conclusion of the Hashemite Local and International Holy Quran Memorization Competition.

He engaged in dialogue with youth in Wadi Al-Seer district, sharing an Iftar meal with them. His Royal Highness also visited the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to review its future projects and inspected the Anti-Narcotics Department. He underscored the importance of developing a strategic action plan for the tourism sector in the coming period and shared an Iftar meal with personnel from the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces and the King Hussein Bin Talal Royal Armored Brigade/40.

In April, His Royal Highness chaired the third meeting of the National Council for Future Technology. His significant diplomatic engagements continued into May with a visit to Japan, where he met with both the Japanese Crown Prince and the Japanese Prime Minister in Tokyo.

Discussions focused on expanding economic and developmental cooperation with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and he met with the Jordanian-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Committee. The trip also included several economic meetings, a visit to Expo Japan where he witnessed the celebration of Jordan's National Day, and a visit to the Jordanian pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

During his birth month, this June, His Royal Highness visited the General Command of the Armed Forces, reiterating that the security of Jordan, its people, and territorial integrity are paramount. He chaired the fourth meeting of the National Council for Future Technology, visited the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, and officially opened the Aqaba National Vocational Training Complex.
