28/ APC paid over JD1.1b to Jordan's Treasury since 2019-Chairman

Amman, June 25 (Petra) - Chairman of Arab Potash Company (APC), Shehada Abu Hdeib, said the company represents a "comprehensive national success story" and has evolved in recent years into a "distinguished" industrial and development model in Jordan and the region, thanks to "precise" strategies, feasible investments, and integrated resource management.

Speaking to a dialogue session organized by the Amman Future Dialogues Group, attended by the APC CEO, Dr. Maan Nsour, Abu Hdeib noted the company has achieved "qualitative" leaps in its operational efficiency since 2019.

Abu Hdeib added that this growth strengthened the APC's position as a "major" supplier of fertilizers to global markets, which has contributed to securing agricultural supply chains in various regions globally.

Abu Hdeib referred to the APC's growth strategy for the fertilizer and derivative chemicals sector for the years (2024–2034), which aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and aims to boosting Jordan's position as a "major" source of fertilizer and chemical products at the regional and global levels.

Abu Hdeib stated this strategy represents an "integrated" roadmap aimed at achieving integration between locally available production elements and developing complementary industries set to be manufactured within the Kingdom.

This vision, he stated, enhances the sector's contribution to global food security and opens up competitive horizons for Jordan to enter future industries.

Abu Hdeib also highlighted the company's operational and financial performance, its completed projects and future plans, its advanced performance, its long-term investment vision, and its societal role as a pillar of the national economy.

Abu Hdeib noted this national scheme intersects with the company's aspirations to remain a "major" contributor to the implementation of key development policies by aligning its corporate plans with the Kingdom's strategic initiatives, serving the national economy and consolidating Jordan's position as a "regional center for advanced" mining industries.

Abu Hdeib said the company is making "confident" strides to strengthen its global presence and achieve integration with other national companies, mainly Jordan Phosphate Mines Company.

Abu Hdeib indicated that this process will be achieved under joint ventures, primarily production of phosphoric acid and specialized fertilizers, as well as expansion project at the Jordan Bromine Company, which consists of 4 main components and has a total cost of $813 million.

On the company's "massive" financial contributions to the Kingdom's Treasury, he said the APC has paid more than JD1.1 billion in payments to the state since 2019 and strengthened the foreign currency reserves in the Kingdom's banking system by approximately $8.6 billion.

As for other projects, he noted the company launched the Research, Development, and Innovation Center in 2024, aimed to develop specialized potash products and derivative industries, increase operational efficiency, and study opportunities related to other elements, in line with the company's vision to enter the future industries.

Abu Hdeib remarked the company is "one of the few" entities that implements an "advanced" institutional system for social responsibility programs, with its contributions exceeding approximately JD66 million over the past five years.

These contributions have been linked to sustainable projects in education, health, environment, infrastructure, and youth and women's empowerment, he pointed out.

The company, he said, views local communities an "important" partner in the sustainability of the production process, adding that investing in human capital is "crucial as the company's other investments.
