24/ Initiative Launched in Irbid to Empower Female Entrepreneurs, Promote Economic Transparency

Irbid, June 24 (Petra) – The Tahfiz Association for Entrepreneurship and Development on Tuesday launched a new initiative aimed at supporting and empowering female owners of small and home-based businesses in Irbid Governorate.

The initiative is part of the "Community Network for Female Entrepreneurs" project, which seeks to strengthen women’s economic participation, promote sustainability, and foster professional growth.

President of the Association Ahmad Shtayyat said the initiative aims to establish a platform for experience-sharing among female entrepreneurs, facilitate discussion of the challenges facing their businesses, and broaden their professional networks. It also provides valuable opportunities for learning and collaboration, ultimately contributing to the development of their projects and greater engagement in local economic life.

Shtayyat noted that the initiative is implemented under the "Integrity" project, funded by the European Union and carried out by Rasheed for Integrity and Transparency (Transparency International Jordan), with support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. The broader objective is to promote transparency and enhance women’s economic empowerment at the local level.

The launch event, moderated by Shtayyat, included a comprehensive dialogue session with participation from representatives of official institutions. The session addressed the main needs and challenges faced by women managing small and home-based enterprises, particularly in accessing services and support mechanisms. Discussions also focused on embedding the principles of integrity and social accountability in women's economic initiatives.

A practical workshop was held during the event to guide participants through the procedures for obtaining professional licenses both electronically and manually. The event also featured individual consultations between female entrepreneurs and officials, allowing for direct communication, problem-solving, and the development of practical solutions.
