11/ Yarmouk Water Company Earns ISO 50001 Certification for Energy Management
Irbid, June 24 (Petra) -- Yarmouk Water Company has been awarded the ISO 50001 certification for energy management, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to enhance operational efficiency and promote sustainability across its facilities. The certification follows a successful external audit conducted by international accreditation body SGS, which confirmed that the company’s procedures at the Wadi Al-Arab 2 and Zaatari pumping stations meet global standards for energy management. Both facilities operate under the company’s Technical Support and Water Production Directorate. In a statement issued Tuesday, Yarmouk Water said the achievement is part of its long-term strategy to reduce energy consumption, improve performance, and minimize environmental impact. The certification also reflects the company’s commitment to aligning with international best practices in sustainability. The ISO 50001 accreditation was secured with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and was implemented under the supervision of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), as part of the national project to improve energy efficiency in the water sector. Yarmouk Water has been working on this initiative since 2018 in collaboration with the Water Authority’s Energy Unit and project partners. The company emphasized that the energy management system will help lower operational costs, reduce harmful emissions, and ensure continued delivery of high-quality water services. It also highlighted the broader significance of ISO 50001, which provides a global framework for institutions to optimize energy use and enhance sustainability. Yarmouk Water reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and to advancing technical excellence as part of its ongoing service to communities in northern Jordan. //Petra// RZ
