Irbid, June 3 (Petra) – Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh on Tuesday inaugurated the fifth season of the Bani Kenana Cultural Evenings at the Yarmouk Battle Panorama site in the town of Saham Al-Kfarat in Bani Kenana District, Irbid Governorate.

Speaking at the event, Rawashdeh said the celebrations coincide with Jordan’s Independence Day and other national occasions, which serve as a record of achievements and a forward-looking roadmap. "We build on what our predecessors have established, moving into the second centennial with pride and confidence inspired by the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the aspirations of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, toward further progress and preservation of national accomplishments," he stated.

Rawashdeh expressed his pleasure in joining the people of Bani Kenana for the launch of the ongoing cultural evenings, organized by the Shu'lat (Flame) Al Yarmouk Cultural Forum and the Jadara (Umm Qais) Forum, in partnership with various cultural, youth, and civil society organizations in the district. He highlighted Bani Kenana’s historical significance and natural landscape, describing it as a rich source of inspiration for national storytelling fueling the creativity of novelists, visual artists, filmmakers, and children’s writers.

The evening’s program included a short film on the site of the Battle of Yarmouk, the opening of a photography exhibition titled Bani Kenana: History and Present, and a creative cultural segment presented by local youth.

The program also featured a classical Arabic poem about Irbid by poet Hasan Naji, a poem by Mohammad Ali Al-Oudat, a reading by Ibrahim Tayyar, and a welcoming speech on behalf of the participating cultural organizations, focusing on the district’s vibrant cultural scene. A performance by students from Saham Basic School for Girls paid tribute to the Jordanian flag, and a short video presentation revisited the highlights of past cultural seasons.

At the conclusion of the event, Minister Rawashdeh presented honorary shields to all participants in recognition of their contributions.
